Andrea Curthoys
Assistant Manager, The Beach Club

Andrea is the Assistant Manager at The Beach Club in Santa Monica, CA, where she has been working since 1992. Andrea has developed the club’s Youth Program over the last decade into a program that is recognized nationally as a premier family experience within the private club industry. Andrea has spoken on how to design children’s programs in private clubs specific to their members needs; how to market these activities to the members; and how to execute these activities with success and within budgetary guidelines.

Her debut speaking experience was at the 2000 CMAA World Conference in Atlanta. Since then, she traveled with her General Manager and life mentor, Gregg Patterson, to Singapore to present to the Club Managers Association of Singapore at their PGA Asia Show and Conference. In 2001, she conducted a workshop based on her manual “How to Bake a Youth Program” for CMAA’s Wisconsin Badger Chapter. In the spring of 2002, the Metropolitan Chapter invited both Gregg and Andrea to present. Andrea has gone on to present at the World Conferences in San Diego, San Antonio and has assisted Mr. Patterson in Miami and Anaheim.

Since then, her method of helping others to develop youth and family programs has been through her “Walk-Around Workshops.” The “Walk-Around Workshop” openly invites clubs from around the country to send their youth directors to spend three days with Andrea at The Beach Club to experience the working aspects of the club’s Youth Program and the role of the Youth Director.

Andrea, being the daughter of an U.S. Air Force Colonel, was born in Germany and was raised in three different states including Oklahoma, Florida and California. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a B.A. in Anthropology and an emphasis in Business Administration. Andrea is a licensed skydiver and participates in her sport as often as she can. She and her husband reside in Los Angeles.
