"Mr. dePencier has served in the club industry for 35 years in a variety of club settings. In his youth, he worked the courses at Westchester and Pinehurst Country Clubs and gained academic strengths in sports management and biomechanics at Western Carolina University and Va. Tech. After college, Ross opened a fitness club in Coconut Grove, Fla. He then returned to Greensboro, NC where he developed a comprehensive fitness and wellness assessment program that helped grow a multisport athletic club from 700 to 5500 membership accounts and increased the average length of membership from 8 to 27 months. Using his experience in software programming and club finance, he helped transition the club away from cash transactions and into the newly created electronic fund transfer process. Ross then purchased a commercial multisport club in Maine and operated it successfully for 15 years. Following the economic downturn of 2008-9, Ross re-entered the private club sector at Cherokee Town and Country Club as their Director of Family, Swim and Fitness where he began working towards his CCM designation. From Atlanta, he relocated to San Francisco and joined the team at VillaSport Athletic Clubs and Spa, where he managed member services, administration, maintenance, and housekeeping. Within the same operating company, Ross became the General Manager of Peacock Gap Golf Club where he took a club that was literally under three feet of water and recovered their golf lessons, food and beverage, and event programs. A highlight from this club was hosting the Great Chef’s and Wineries event including the Bay area’s top chefs and vineyards in support of Lifehouse. Ross then took the leadership position of Belvedere Tennis Club in Tiburon, CA. but with California leading the way in closure due to COVID, it made sense for his family to return home to the Carolinas where he is currently the General Manager of the Grande Dunes Ocean Club in Myrtle Beach. During his first year, he increased F & B revenue 38%. Working with Freehold Properties and Grande Dunes is a great fit for Ross, his wife Debbie, and their fearless Terrier “Angus.” CURRENTLY: GENERAL MANAGER, GRANDE DUNES OCEAN CLUB
