Board of Director Expectations
Thank you for agreeing to serve as a Board Member
for the Carolinas Chapter CMAA. Your
commitment to the Board should prove to be rewarding both professionally and
personally and is a vital component for the Chapter to continue to grow and
improve. As a Board Member, one of your primary responsibilities will be to act
as an ambassador and advocate of the Chapter, the Club Managers Association of
America, and the industry as a whole. In an effort to assist you with fulfilling
your leadership role, the following is a brief summary of base expectations for
your consideration.
Attend and be prepared to actively participate in the four quarterly
Board Meetings held each year. Chair at least one Committee as it relates to your respective Board
position. Review and approve all new membership applications. Share any and all pertinent information with Chapter members through submissions
to the monthly eNewsletter. Attend and participate in other events and initiatives where the Board’s
presence is important. Chapter events such as: Leadership Team Meeting,
Past Presidents’ Brunch, Board Retreat, and Strategic Planning Meeting(s) CMAA National events such as: Annual World
Conference, Leadership/Legislative Conference, and National Committee Weekend Allied association events such as: Carolinas Golf
Course Superintendents Conference and Show, North Carolina Golf Day, and South
Carolina Golf Week
Ensure the Chapter is constantly striving to meet the needs of its
members as well as improve our industry. Lead by example (attendance, timeliness, participation, professional dress,
etc.). Be actively involved in the discussions and decisions affecting the
values and growth of the Chapter. Collaboratively bring new ideas, perspectives and expertise to the
Chapter through ongoing dialogue with fellow Directors, Chapter Members, and Chapter
Staff; placing meaningful and specific proposals before the Board; and
proposing new Board Members.
Attend and promote the Chapter’s quarterly meetings, specifically the Winter
Education Program, Spring Chapter Meeting, Summer Conference and Fall Chapter Meeting.
Attend and promote all other full-Chapter events to include: the Manager-Director
Forum, Summer Education Program, Fall Education Program, Student Fundraising
Golf Tournament and Carolinas Club Foundation Vendor Golf Tournament. Attend and promote the Chapter’s region meetings. Promotion of all events will consist of making personal invitations to
those members on an assigned call list.
To the Chapter by way of event registrations and related expenses. To the Carolinas Club Foundation by way of club donations over
membership dues renewal, participation in the annual wine auction and golf
tournament, and through any personal pledges that you are comfortable making. To the Carolinas Sponsorship Program by way of supporting our vendor
partners and soliciting their assistance when necessary to benefit the Chapter.
The purpose of the Carolinas
Chapter is to provide timely, engaging and informative education to persons connected with
the management of clubs and other associations of similar character as well as to promote and
encourage efficient and successful club management skills and to advance friendly and
mutually beneficial relationships among its members.
