Lt. Den Ouden grew up Missouri and was passionate about Law Enforcement as a child under the wing of his Father, a former FBI Agent. A graduate of Drury University in Springfield, Missouri, Lt. Den Ouden quickly found his niche as a member of the National Park Service where he served for five years in the late 80’s and early 90’s. It was in 1992 when he relocated to Asheville to begin serving as a member of the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office. A now 24 year veteran, Lt. Den Ouden has received several awards of distinction to include the highly regarded Medal of Honor (2000, 2012), Purple Heart (2008) and Officer of the Year (2000). Lt.
