Education and Speaker Information
“What’s Hot and What’s Not in the Carolinas and Throughout the U.S.” with Frank Vain
“What’s Hot and What’s Not” is a regular feature of the McMahon Report that focuses on the latest innovations in programs, services and facilities at private clubs. Drawn from McMahon’s national research on trends in private clubs and their work in the Carolinas, this session will provide insights from McMahon and managers from across the Carolinas to give you some hot ideas you can take back home with you. We’ll share some “What’s Not” practices also, but promise to withhold names to protect the innocent!

“The Essentials of Strategic Planning” with Frank Vain
Despite the clear relationship between planning and success, many clubs still take an informal approach to strategic planning. This session will focus on steps you can take to build board support for engaging in the development of a strategic plan and your role in managing it to fruition. We’ll discuss the basic steps in plan development and identify the organizational structure and monitoring process to establish and maintain your club’s plan.

“The Centennial Plan at Myers Park Country Club” with Frank Vain

In 2011, Myers Park Country Club launched The Centennial Plan, a transformational capital improvement program designed to position the club to thrive in the new club market. The program has had the desired effect! Membership and activity is up, member average age is down and this classic club is thriving once again. We’ll review the planning process and goals that put the club on track to execute the program and Kamal Sakakini, CCM, will offer tips to help managers plan and manage club improvements.

"What Kind of Leader Are You?" with Dann Harris
Effective leadership approaches have expanded. Traditional means of leading no longer have broad acceptance from all demographics and personalities. In this session, you will more fully define the differences between leading and managing. You may also discover the perceptions of your current leadership style. This will be an interactive session so come prepared to participate and learn, not just endure another lecture.
