Job Summary:
The Dining Room Captain is a hands-on position responsible for assisting the Management team in upholding the service standards and operations of all dining venues at Greenville Country Club while maintaining the highest level of member and guest satisfaction.
  
Essential Duties include, but are not limited to:  

  • Trains new service staff.
  • Attends pre-shift line-up to receive daily information.
  • Assures that local and state laws and the club's policies and procedures for the
    service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
  • Prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to club standards.
  • Greets members and guests.
  • Suggests and describes available appetizers, entrees, desserts, alcoholic beverages and wines to members and guests.
  • Efficiently serves food and beverages in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Properly communicates with management on issues with food and/or service.
  • Inspects dining room to ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness, and safety.
  • Provides layout and design recommendations to applicable managers.
  • Assures that pre-opening and closing cleaning tasks are completed as required.
  • Assists with service of food and beverages in outlets and for special functions when needed.
  • Assists with table clearing and re-setting as needed.
  • Suggests when additional service supplies and small equipment are needed.
  • May serve as club's opening or closing manager or manager on duty.
  • Assists in dining room inventory assessments.
  • Suggestively sells daily specials to all members and guests.
  • Coordinates any special requests including dietary needs with the Executive Chef.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary to the position.
Education and/or Experience:  

  • Some college helpful, but not required;
  • 1-2 years of Food and Beverage experience;
  • Private club experience highly preferred.

  • Must be highly visible and maintain high level of member contact in all service areas.
  • Follows all food & beverage health safety guidelines and alcohol service protocols.
  • Ability to become ServSafe certified.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time
  • Must be able to move about the dining room to service guests
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of items up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional pushing and pulling of items up to 50 lbs.
