Founded in 1922, Biltmore Forest Country Club is a prestigious, member-owned club with a rich history and many long-standing traditions. The club provides exceptional recreational and social experiences for over 750 members with an average age of 64. This historic facility is situated on 135 acres in the Town of Biltmore Forest, which is located just south of Asheville. The Club's annual revenue is approximately $9 million with $2 million in food and beverage sales. The Club has a total of 70 full-time and 60 part-time employees. 

The Club boasts an 18-hole Donald Ross designed golf course that is maintained at the highest standard; an elegant clubhouse facility; fitness center; tennis facilities; pool; and a wide variety of member activities. The golf course supports 18,000 annual golf rounds. The club has hosted numerous prestigious championships including the 1999 U.S. Women's Amateur and the 2013 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur. 

The 47,500 sq. ft. clubhouse contains the Club Room, Main Dining Room, Men's Locker Room Bar, Dining Porch and Terrace, Jake's Bar, Banquet Rooms, Golf Pro Shop, Fitness Center, Men and Women's Locker Rooms, as well as 19 Overnight Guest Rooms.

The Fitness Center is equipped with state of the art ellipticals, treadmills, weight machines as well as free weights and other fitness equipment. The tennis facility offers five outdoor Har-Tru tennis courts and a Tennis Pro Shop. The pool facility features an Olympic sized pool and a baby pool. The pool house includes a dining area which offers many options for poolside dining.

The Club has undergone many changes and renovations over the years with the most recent being a $6.4 million restoration of the golf course and a $1.8 million restoration of the Clubhouse in 2015. The mission for both projects was to restore the Club's facilities back to its original 1922 splendor. The Club is currently preparing for its centennial celebration and finalizing plans for a $10 million project that will include a new fitness center, updated pool and casual dining area, new tennis facility and additional guest rooms.  Construction is expected to begin next August. 

The Club has been recognized by Club Leader's Forum as a Platinum Club of America®, a distinction awarded to the top 3% of private clubs. 

Job Summary:
The Director of Food & Beverage is a senior-level department head position that will work closely with the other various department managers as well as the General Manager to ensure the club is operating in an effective manner. This person will be expected to lead the F&B service management team and successfully coordinate all F&B activities with a strong focus on the necessary details to deliver an exemplary service experience to the members and their guests. The person fulfilling this role should constantly be looking for ways to improve the operation and will provide guidance to the appropriate committees. 
  
Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to):  

  • Greeting and engaging all members and guests to ensure they have a positive visit.
  • Coordinating all food and beverage activities between the service and culinary staff.
  • Overseeing inventory procedures within the department.
  • Overseeing the training and supervision of service staff.
  • Developing standards and procedures necessary for daily operations as well as providing a first-class dining experience. 
  • Assuring that all health and safety policies and procedures are in place and consistently followed.
  • Maintaining the established customs and practices of the Club.
  • Serving as opening or closing manager as needed.
  • Attending and leading staff meetings.
  • Managing the financial aspects of the department and developing budgets.
  • Developing and implementing an ongoing marketing plan to increase participation.
  • Mentoring the F&B Management team.  

Qualifications:
The club is seeking an experienced and dedicated hospitality professional with a passion for working within and leading a team environment.  This person must be highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented, possess excellent communication skills, and have a proven track record of achievement in other roles.  Active participation within CMAA will be considered a plus.
