Job Summary:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly-motivated Aquatics Director and Head Coach. This position is responsible for the overall management and direction of the Club's aquatics facilities and swim program, CCC's PHISH Swim Team and assists with the Club's seasonal youth activities.  This is contemplated as a full-time, year-round position.  The Aquatics Director will be a member of the Club's leadership team.

The successful candidate must be credentialed and passionate about swimming, with a track-record of running a successful program and ideally, a personal competitive swimming background.

  • Current CPO, WSI, Red Cross Swim Coach and Safety Training (or equivalent) certifications are required.
  • Must be highly knowledgeable of pool operations and maintenance and also have experience with hiring, training and leading a team of seasonal lifeguards and swim coaches.
  • Must have a passion for coaching and working with youth.  Fun and good sportsmanship are fundamental to our program, but a commitment to continuous improvement and a competitive spirit are keys to success.
  • With the ability to heat and cool the water, CCC's Aquatic facilities are generally open to the membership from March through November.
  • The pool facilities are outstanding and were completely and newly rebuilt, opening in 2018.  

Essential Duties:  

  • Acts as the "friendly face of the pool" to the CCC membership, with a high degree of visibility and "on-deck" presence.
  • Operates a safe, sanitary and well-maintained pool facility, consistently meeting or exceeding SC DHEC and CCC standards, as well as Member expectations.
  • Applies for annual operating permits, in time for seasonal openings.
  • Maintains reports, logs, MSDS sheets and records as required by SC DHEC, OSHA and CCC.
  • Manages and maintains inventories of supplies necessary to operate successfully and without interruption.
  • Hires, trains, certifies, supervises and leads a team of seasonal staff, including lifeguards, coaches, maintenance and member-services staff.  Manage HR and payroll functions related to the department.
  • Schedules staff to maintain a high-level of visibility and service to the membership.
  • Oversees and manages any vendors and outside contractors related to the facility.
  • Enforces Club rules and policies, with a safety-first mindset.
  • Serves as Head Coach for the CCC PHISH Swim Team.
  • Hires and manages a team of supporting Coaches and is the key liaison to the Member-driven Swim Team Committee.  Also serves as the Club/Team rep with the CCAA (Coastal Carolina Aquatic Association) Swim League.
  • Recruits and develops swimmers to fill out a full and competitive swim team roster across all age and stroke brackets.
  • Plans and directs special events and activities to promote a fun and engaging aquatics program, with a specific emphasis on youth activities and events.
  • Offers and markets a swim lesson instructional program for the membership, including adults and youth.
  • Ensures that Members are signing in, adhering to guest policies and manages guest fee billing.
  • Develops and works within approved operating budgets for the department.
  • Attends periodic CCC Staff and Committee meetings.
  • Works in the "off-season" to prepare the facility for the year ahead.
  • Assists in planning and execution of youth events and activities such as holiday events throughout the year and seasonal sports camps (golf, tennis and swim).

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years in aquatics management and pool operations, with a proven record of effective performance.
  • Experience with salt-generator pool systems is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a swim coach, with at least one (1) year as the Head Coach of a large swim team.
  • Private Club experience strongly preferred.
  • Competitive swimming background, preferably at the collegiate level.
  • Proficiency with technology – much of the Swim Team administration is conducted electronically (Team Unify), as are many Club systems.
  • Outgoing, super high-energy, personable and friendly personality.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills across all ages - grandparents, parents and on down to teens, juniors and small children.
  • Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced hospitality environment is preferred.
  • Varied schedule including weekends and holidays required.  Full-availability is required during the summer swim season.
