Job Summary:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Retail Merchandise Manager. This position is responsible for the direction of the overall retail efforts to create a proper merchandise mix, maximum sales, optimum turnover, a quality reputation, and a superior service atmosphere.
The successful candidate must be familiar with Golf Operations and should have the following attributes:
- Working knowledge in the latest men's and women's fashions in the sports
- Strong member/guest relation and interpersonal skills
- Analytical, strategic and detail oriented to develop and manage inventory (hard /soft goods) and budget goals
- Artistic and creative eye for merchandise placement and shop displays to appeal to members and increase sales
Essential Duties:
Buying: 20%
- Develops buying programs through selected vendors for retail shops and special events
- Determines open-to-buy
- Monitors buying plan for each outlet
- Assists with buying plans for hard good purchases for retail shops and special events
- Reviews merchandising activities; determines additional needed sales promotion; authorizes clearance sales and studies trends
- Assists in advertising, sales promotion and display plan
Selling: 20%
- Creates and manages detailed purchase order system
- Plans, promotes, merchandises, and markets events
- Promotes daily floor sales and customer relations
- Provides/monitors merchandise displays and maintenance
Budgeting: 10%
- Analyzes operating and financial statements for profitability ratios
- Determines yearly operating budgets and merchandise strategies in conjunctions with Department heads
- Provides monthly variance reports as needed or requested
Inventory Management/Control: 10%
- Establishes stock levels and control
- Establishes, monitors and coordinates return to vendor procedures
- Coordinates physical inventories
- Evaluates monthly stock levels and initiates markdowns
- Controls Cost of Sales via proper paperwork flow
- Provides records and information as needed or requested
Training Program: 5%
- Implements training programs to increase staff knowledge and productivity
- Establishes procedures for merchandise flow; receiving, checking in, and ticketing
- Works with staff in visual merchandising techniques
Customer Service/Other Duties: 35%
- Places and tracks special orders for members and employee staff
- Develops relationships and rapport with members by being on the floor and assisting with their needs
- Answers phones, understands the golf operation, and assists with all member/guest needs and requests
- Maintains joint partnerships with vendors and golf shop staff members
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five (5) years in retail operations, with proven record of effective performance
- Minimum of two (2) years of buying
- Minimum of two (2) years of merchandise management
- Golf background and/or extensive knowledge required
- Previous experience with Point-of-Sales system software desired
- Outgoing, personable and friendly personality
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail and analytical skills
- Previous experience in a fast-paced hospitality environment, preferred
- Varied schedule including weekends and holidays required
